PFIPC Scandal: Adeyemi Claims He Borrowed N400 Million to Secure Appointment
The controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has deepened after Adeniyi Adeyemi claimed he borrowed N400 million to secure what he described as his appointment into President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Adeyemi alleged that the money was raised through loans and paid to facilitate his appointment. He further disclosed that the individuals who provided the funds have petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), demanding that the money be recovered.
According to Adeyemi, he is under pressure from his creditors, insisting that the funds used were borrowed and remain unpaid. He maintained that his allegations are true despite repeated denials from government officials.
Adeyemi also dismissed claims that he was in hiding, explaining that concerns over his personal safety informed his decision to remain out of the public eye. He alleged that there had been attempts on his life but said he was prepared to defend his claims publicly.
The Presidency has consistently maintained that the PFIPC is not a recognised government agency and has denied Adeyemi’s allegations. Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has also denied any involvement in the claims, describing the allegations against him as false.
The controversy has attracted widespread public attention, with President Bola Tinubu directing the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged agency and the claims made by Adeyemi.
The unfolding scandal continues to generate debate over accountability, transparency and due process in public appointments, while investigations by relevant authorities are ongoing.
