Mukaila Oluokun ‘De Stone’ Dies, Ibadan Mourns Hasbol Hotel CEO

The Ibadan business and social community has been thrown into mourning following the death of Mukaila Oluokun, popularly known as “De Stone,” the Chief Executive Officer of Hasbol Hotel, who was widely regarded as an industrious businessman, employer of labour and generous supporter of young people.

Oluokun, who was married and survived by his wife and children, built a reputation beyond the hospitality industry. Friends and associates described him as a man of the people with a large heart, whose commitment to creating jobs helped many young men and women find productive livelihoods.

Reacting to his death, Asiwaju Kolawole Olurin, a close friend of Oluokun, described the development as a rude shock and a major loss to Ibadan.

Olurin described the late businessman as a dependable and wonderful friend whom he regarded as “a brother from another mother.”

According to him, Oluokun’s death has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill because of his relationship with people and the number of lives he touched through friendship, employment and generosity.

Since news of the death of Mukaila Oluokun ‘De Stone’ became public, hundreds of sympathisers, business associates, friends and beneficiaries of his generosity have reportedly continued to visit his residence from within and outside Ibadan to sympathise with his family and sign the condolence register.

The large turnout has further reflected the deceased’s connection with people from different backgrounds and the impact he made during his lifetime.
