PDP National Woman Leader Predicts Victory for Adebutu in Ogun 2027 Governorship Election
The National Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Adenike Ogunshe, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, declaring that its candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, has the vision, strategy and grassroots support needed to reclaim power.
Ogunshe made the declaration during a thank-you visit to Adebutu and other PDP leaders in Abeokuta following the selection of Alhaja Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo as the party’s deputy governorship candidate.
According to her, the PDP is preparing for the 2027 general elections with a clear strategy focused on addressing the needs and aspirations of Ogun residents rather than relying on political rhetoric. She said the party is committed to ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every household and community if elected into office.
The PDP National Woman Leader described Adebutu as a leader who has benefited from the experience of the party’s national leadership, grassroots members and women across the country, adding that his administration would introduce fresh ideas capable of accelerating development in Ogun State.
Ogunshe also praised the decision to nominate a woman as the deputy governorship candidate, describing it as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to gender inclusion and women’s participation in governance.
She urged Ogun residents to support the PDP in the 2027 elections, expressing optimism that the party would restore hope and deliver people-oriented leadership across the state.
Responding, Adebutu appreciated the National Woman Leader and her delegation for the visit, stressing that women remain indispensable to nation-building and sustainable development.
He explained that his choice of a female running mate was in recognition of the invaluable contributions women make to society and in line with the party’s commitment to inclusive governance.
Adebutu also appealed to the people of Ogun State not to compromise their future by selling their votes, urging them instead to support the PDP in order to enjoy improved governance and sustainable development.
In her remarks, the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in her, pledging to work tirelessly alongside the governorship candidate to secure victory for the party in 2027.
Also speaking, the Ogun State PDP Woman Leader, Dame Titilola Odedele, called on party members and residents across the state to unite behind the PDP, saying the party remains committed to delivering positive change and good governance.
