Ogun Youths Threaten Statewide Lockdown if Abiodun Dares Demolish OGD’s Properties — Tell Tinubu to Call Him to Order

Tension is brewing in Ogun State as angry youths have vowed to shut down the entire state should Governor Dapo Abiodun proceed with his latest demolition threats against properties linked to former governor, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD).
Speaking in Sagamu on Friday, several youth leaders, representing different socio-political groups, described the Abiodun administration’s move as “a shameless display of political vendetta” and warned of “uncontrollable mayhem” if the governor dares to touch the properties.
The controversial Notices of Contravention, Quit Notices, and demolition threats were reportedly pasted late on Thursday, August 8, 2025, on three high-profile OGD-linked properties — Asoludero Court, Conference Hotels Sagamu, and its Annex — sparking outrage across the state.
According to the youths, the action is nothing but a calculated attempt to humiliate and destroy the legacy of OGD using the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022 — a law enacted years after the buildings in question were constructed.
‘We Will Lock Down Ogun’
“Our patience has limits,” one of the youth leaders declared. “If Governor Abiodun dares bring down even a single block from OGD’s properties, Ogun State will witness the mother of all shutdowns. We will take over the streets, we will occupy government offices, and we will make it impossible for the administration to function.”
The youth leaders accused the governor of bypassing due process, recalling the infamous midnight demolition of DATKEM Plaza in 2023, owned by Yeye Olufunke Daniel, which is still being contested in court.
Tinubu Must Intervene
The aggrieved youths have now called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently rein in Governor Abiodun before the situation spirals out of control.
“This is a dangerous political witch-hunt that could destabilize the peace of our state,” the statement read. “We urge President Tinubu to call his party member to order and stop this abuse of power before it plunges Ogun into chaos.”
With emotions running high and public anger swelling, observers warn that the Abiodun-led government may be sitting on a political time bomb.
