Ogun Police Arrest Security Guard Over Alleged Defilement of Minor, Recover Locally Made Firearm
ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE — The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old security guard, Abraham Aneka, over the alleged defilement of a 16-year-old girl in the Abule-Ijoko area of the state.
The Command also recovered a locally made single-barrel firearm allegedly used by the suspect to threaten the victim during the incident.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, ANIPR, and made available to journalists in Abeokuta.
According to the statement, detectives attached to the Agbado Division launched an intelligence-driven operation following a complaint lodged by a family member of the victim in the early hours of June 10, 2026.
Police authorities said preliminary information indicated that the teenage girl was returning home on the night of June 9 when she was allegedly accosted by the suspect.
The statement alleged that the suspect threatened the victim with a locally made firearm before forcibly taking her to his residence in Abule-Ijoko, where the alleged offence occurred.
Following the report, operatives of the Agbado Division immediately commenced investigations, tracked down the suspect, and recovered the firearm allegedly used during the incident. Detectives also visited the scene as part of ongoing investigative procedures.
According to the police, preliminary findings revealed that the suspect allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor without her consent and further attempted to dispossess her of personal belongings.
The victim was subsequently issued a medical form and taken to a healthcare facility for examination and treatment.
The statement further disclosed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for comprehensive investigation and possible prosecution.
The suspect remains in police custody pending the conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating sexual and gender-based violence, particularly offences involving minors and other vulnerable members of society.
The police commissioner emphasized that the Command maintains a zero-tolerance stance against crimes involving children and assured residents that justice would be pursued in accordance with extant laws.
He also urged parents, guardians, and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report cases of abuse, violence, and suspicious activities to security agencies for immediate intervention.
The Ogun State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property while ensuring that perpetrators of criminal acts are brought to justice.
