Ogun 2023: O’kenny applauds Ladi Adebutu’s victory at the High Court

The House of Assembly candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for Odeda State constituency in Ogun state, Hon. Odewunmi Kehinde popularly known as O’kenny has hailed the ruling Federal High Court in Abuja affirming the candidacy of Hon. Ladi Adebutu as the party’s gubernatorial standard bearer for Ogun state in the 2023 general elections.
In congratulatory message, Hon. Odewunmi noted that his confidence in the nation’s judicial system has never been in doubt.
He called on all aggrieved party members to close ranks and work with Hon. Ladi Adebutu to ensure victory at the poll and as well to restore the long lost glory of the gateway state.
Hon. Odewunmi while speaking further said the High Court judgement had further put the camp of the rulling APC into disarray adding that PDP is better equipped to raise the dark clouds the government in power has used to cover the state which culminated into Infrastructural deficits, insecurity, gloom economy among others since assumed power.
A factional gubernatorial Aspirant on the platform of the opposition party, Jimi Lawal was challenging the emergence of Hon Adebutu as PDP governorship Candidate in Ogun State in the last party primaries.
Justice Taiwo held his ruling citing many Legal authorities that “who is a delegate to vote in a primary election is exclusively within the domain of a political party and the court lacks the Jurisdiction to entertain the suit as it will mean delving into who is the proper delegates to vote at the primary”. He therefore dismissed the suit.
This judgment puts to rest the tussle for who qualifies to fly the party’s flag between the former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ladi Adebutu and Mr Jimi Lawal in the 2023 general elections in Ogun State.
