2027: Let Ogun People Decide APC Governorship Candidate — Isiaka Tells Party Leaders
A member of the House of Representatives, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has urged leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State to allow a transparent and democratic process in selecting the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Isiaka stressed the need for internal democracy within the party, noting that the emergence of a credible candidate should be determined by the will of party members rather than the influence of a few leaders.
The lawmaker, who represents Imeko-Afon/Yewa North Federal Constituency, said fairness, equity, and due process must guide the selection process to ensure unity and strengthen the party ahead of the elections.
He maintained that every aspirant deserves a level playing field, adding that imposing candidates could create divisions and weaken the party’s chances in the general election.
Isiaka, who has previously contested the governorship position multiple times, reaffirmed his commitment to the APC, stating that he would abide by the party’s decision while advocating for a credible and transparent primary process.
He also emphasized that the collective interest of the party and the people of Ogun State should take precedence over personal ambitions, urging party stakeholders to prioritize unity and inclusiveness.
The lawmaker further called on party leaders to foster an atmosphere that encourages healthy competition among aspirants, noting that such an approach would ultimately produce a candidate capable of winning the governorship election.
