My Visit to Awujale is an home-coming – President Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has described his visit to the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, as a response to a ‘home-calling’.

Tinubu made this known while speaking at the palace of the monarch in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

He noted that his visit to the state was to thank the royal father, the chiefs and the people of the state for their support towards his emergence as President of the federal republic of Nigeria.

The President described Oba Adetona as a courageous, steadfast and frank monarch adding that he owes the monarch, the people of Ijebu, Ogun State and Nigeria, so much to thank them for.

Tinubu emphasised that he came to Ogun State during the cash swap policy of the last administration and during the “Emi Lo Kan” saga, to ‘invoke the spirit of freedom’, which the state is renowned for.

While appreciating President Tinubu for the visit, the Awujale expressed delight at the various policies and programmes already initiated by the president and called for support from all and sundry.

The monarch noted that Tinubu is capable of taking Nigeria to promise land, and prayed for God’s guidance, good health and wisdom.

Also speaking, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun thanked the president for visiting the State, describing it as an attestation to the position which the state occupies as a state of many firsts.

Nigeria Standard reports that President Tinubu’s visit to Ogun State is the first official visit to any state in Nigeria since he was inaugurated on May 29, 2023.
