LAUTECH Debunks Closure Rumours Over Alleged Bandits’ Threat in Ogbomoso
The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that the institution was shut down over fears of a possible bandits’ attack in Ogbomoso.
In an official statement issued by the university registrar, Mrs. Olayinka Balogun, the institution described the reports as false, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary panic among students, parents, and members of the public.
According to the statement, the university remains fully operational, with students currently writing their examinations without any disruption. Management stressed that there was no security threat warranting the closure of the institution and assured stakeholders that academic activities would continue as scheduled.
The clarification followed growing tension in parts of Ogbomoso after reports of suspected gunmen and kidnapping incidents in some communities within Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Despite the concerns, LAUTECH authorities insisted the campus environment remained calm and secure.
The institution further urged students and residents to disregard unverified information capable of creating fear and confusion, while reaffirming its commitment to the safety and welfare of members of the university community.
