Just-In: Former Presidential Aide Dr Doyin Okupe Is Dead

Dr. Doyin Okupe, widely respected in Nigerian society both as a physician of notable repute and a knowledgeable politician, as well as a former presidential aide, has sadly passed away at the age of 72.
Dr. Okupe was a towering figure in his fields, combining medical expertise with a dedication to public service that left an indelible mark on the nation.

In the weeks preceding his death, reports from those close to him indicated that he had been critically ill, with his health declining considerably, sparking deep concern among his family, friends, and a wide network of political and personal allies.
A dependable source has attributed his death to cancer, a relentless illness he valiantly battled for many years. Back in October 2023, it was reported that Dr. Okupe was hospitalized due to prostate cancer, leading to his being flown to Israel in hopes of receiving advanced treatment.
Sadly, despite these efforts, his condition did not improve as hoped. His battle with health issues began 16 years ago with a diagnosis of prostate cancer, which later also saw him fighting sarcoma in his right shoulder.
Dr. Okupe’s life and career were marked by resilience and commitment, and his passing leaves a void in the fields he was passionate about.
