Former head of the Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan is dead.
Shonekan died in Lagos at the age of 85 following a brief illness.
He headed the Interim National Government that succeeded the Military Administration of General Ibrahim Babangida between August 26 and November 17 ,1993.

His administration was outsted same year in a coup led by the late General Sanni Abacha.
