FG Seeks Stronger Nigeria-China Logistics Partnership to Boost Trade and Investment
The Federal Government has intensified efforts to strengthen logistics cooperation between Nigeria and China as part of broader initiatives to boost bilateral trade, attract foreign investment, and enhance supply chain efficiency. The move is expected to deepen economic ties between both countries while improving the ease of doing business for manufacturers, exporters and investors.
Government officials said a stronger logistics partnership would enhance cargo movement, reduce transportation costs, improve port operations and facilitate faster delivery of goods between Nigeria and China. They noted that efficient logistics infrastructure remains critical to expanding trade volumes, supporting industrial growth and increasing Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global market.
The Federal Government also reaffirmed its commitment to creating an enabling environment for local and foreign investors through improved infrastructure, policy reforms and strategic international partnerships. Officials stressed that closer collaboration with China would support technology transfer, capacity building and the development of modern logistics systems capable of driving sustainable economic growth.
The renewed engagement is expected to unlock fresh investment opportunities across key sectors, including transportation, manufacturing, agriculture, maritime services and infrastructure development. Stakeholders believe enhanced logistics cooperation will strengthen Nigeria’s position as a major trade hub in Africa while advancing the country’s economic diversification agenda.
Industry experts have welcomed the initiative, noting that improved logistics connectivity between Nigeria and China could increase export opportunities for Nigerian businesses, expand market access and strengthen regional and global supply chains. They also urged continued investment in ports, rail networks, roads and digital trade infrastructure to maximise the benefits of the partnership.
The Federal Government reiterated that strengthening international economic partnerships remains a key component of its strategy to promote sustainable development, expand trade, create jobs and attract long-term investments into the Nigerian economy.
