Federal Government Jobs Not for Sale, FCC Warns Nigerian Youths

ABUJA — The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has warned Nigerian youths against paying money to secure Federal Government jobs, stressing that government employment opportunities are not for sale.

The commission urged job seekers to be wary of individuals and groups demanding payment in exchange for recruitment into federal ministries, departments and agencies.

The warning comes amid concerns over fraudulent recruitment schemes targeting unemployed Nigerians who are seeking opportunities in the public sector.

The FCC advised young Nigerians to rely only on official government channels for information about recruitment exercises and available vacancies.

It cautioned job seekers against giving money or personal information to unauthorised individuals claiming to have connections within government agencies.

The commission also emphasised the importance of transparency and fairness in federal recruitment, particularly in ensuring that employment opportunities are distributed in line with established guidelines.

The FCC is responsible for ensuring compliance with the federal character principle in the distribution of public employment opportunities and other government appointments.

The commission urged Nigerians who encounter individuals demanding money for Federal Government jobs to report such cases to the appropriate authorities.

It reiterated that no legitimate Federal Government recruitment exercise requires applicants to pay individuals in order to secure employment.

The FCC further called on Nigerian youths to remain vigilant and verify recruitment information before responding to advertisements or messages promising government jobs.

The warning is particularly significant as unemployment and the search for stable employment continue to drive many young Nigerians to seek opportunities in the public sector.

The commission said it would continue to support transparent recruitment processes and work to prevent fraudulent practices capable of exploiting job seekers.
