FCT Police Arrest NURTW President, Baruwa For Alleged Murder
Tajudeen Baruwa, president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command, for alleged homicide and criminal conspiracy.
Josephine Adeh, FCT police spokesperson, who confirmed the arrest on Friday, said 21 other suspects were also arrested for the same offences and will soon be arraigned in court.
According to Adeh, “He (Baruwa) was arrested along with 21 others for alleged criminal conspiracy, public disobedience and culpable homicide.”
“All will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation.
Baruwa’s arrest came after two factions of the NURTW engaged in a violent clash in Abuja on Tuesday, leading to the death of one person and several others injured.
Baruwa had accused the former NURTW leaders of illegally occupying the union’s national secretariat.
