As Nigeria joins rest of the world commemorate this year’s Christmas celebration, the Ogun State In the spirit of the celebration through the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has distributed various gift items to over 1,000 children in a project tagged: “Ori-Omi Children’s Party 2022”
The children most of age 2-18 years were given various branded gifts items, in addition to special gifts awarded to winners in dancing competitions/games while others thrilled with the attractions of bouncing castles and horse riding in the yuletide celebration programme.
Commenting on the gesture, the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo, in company of the Special Assistant on Youth to the Governor, Comrade Lamide Lawal said the programme was organized to give kids within Abeokuta environs a memorable holiday; put smiles on their face and enable them celebrate with others from other homes in the centrally controlled and secured atmosphere.
According to her, “this is one of the present administration’s lofty ideas of spreading love and integrating children into Christmas’ celebration. We as an administration understands that the celebration is incomplete without children being touched tenderly with love”
In their respective remarks, some of the children including Emmanuel Nwabusi, Kolade Adegoke and Esther Fagbenro, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Abiodun, for what they described as an act of kindness, saying that the celebration was a top-notch.
Also, Abdulwasiu Banmeke who spoke in native language after emerging winner in a dancing competition said, “I have been here for over eight hours and so pleased with the various programmes being done that made me interact with others freely inspite not knowing them closely, I hope this will continue at every festive periods”
