Chief Olabode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and member of its Board of Trustees, has strongly condemned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for overseeing the sealing of the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
In an interview with Arise Television on Monday, George described the action as a betrayal of the party that nurtured Wike’s political rise, calling it “sacrilegious, unacceptable, and culturally inadmissible.”
“This is the party that brought you to life,” George said pointedly, accusing Wike of disrespecting the PDP and acting in a politically reckless manner.
The PDP secretariat was sealed just hours before a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, an act George believes was intentional and malicious.
Drawing a sharp analogy, he likened Wike’s action to a man sealing off his ancestral home over minor issues. “It’s like going back to your village, and because your family house hasn’t paid some ground rent, you — as the local government chairman — lock it up. How much were we owing? Seven million naira — which you could easily pay,” he argued.
George recounted Wike’s political trajectory, crediting the PDP for every milestone in the Minister’s career: from local government chairman to Chief of Staff, two-term governor of Rivers State, and later Minister of State.
“I want to challenge him — let them check the property being used by the APC at their headquarters in Abuja. It could probably be in the same situation. People could be careless. But it is not a monumental amount of money,” he noted.
He concluded by labeling the act as deliberate sabotage, intended to embarrass the party ahead of its critical leadership meeting.
