Atiku, Makinde Meet Former Military President Babangida in Minna

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde have paid a courtesy visit to former Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd.) at his residence in Minna, Niger State.
Atiku arrived in Minna in the early afternoon and proceeded straight from the airport to Babangida’s hilltop home. Governor Makinde joined him shortly after, as both leaders held a closed-door meeting with the elder statesman.
Speaking briefly after the meeting, Atiku explained that the visit was part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening political structures and deepening democratic engagement across the country. He dismissed suggestions that the meeting was linked to any immediate presidential ambition, describing it instead as a consultative and developmental engagement.
The former Vice President also reiterated the importance of credible electoral reforms, stressing the need for a transparent system that allows real-time electronic transmission of election results to enhance public confidence in the democratic process.
Governor Makinde declined to address journalists, maintaining a low profile throughout the visit.
The meeting has continued to generate political interest, coming amid broader consultations by key national figures ahead of future political developments.
