Not less than 75 members of All Progressives Congress in Abeokuta South Local Government were empowered with cash reward to assist their businesses.
The empowerment took place on Wednesday at the APC Secretariat, Oke Ejigbo, Abeokuta, Ogun state.
The empowerment programme according to the Caretaker Chairman, Abeokuta South local government, Hon. Ayodeji Shomide was to reward party members who supported the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Shomide while speaking with newsmen noted that the financial empowerment would be quarterly and rotated among members of the party.
He maintained that the empowerment would spread across the 15 wards of the local government.
Shomide said, ”What we are doing today is empowerment for our party members as a way of giving governance back to our people, because it was part of the promises that we have made that we will support our people with whatever they are doing, that is the essence of why we are here today”
He also maintained that Abeokuta south local government was the first local government organizing the empowerment for party members.
Also speaking, a leader of the party in the local government, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi who represented Governor Abiodun urged the party members to remain steadfast and committed to the progress of the party.
The beneficiaries described the empowerment as a kind gesture. They appreciated the state government and the party leaders for empowering them.
Cross section of dignitaries present at the event are; the chairmanship aspirant Abeokuta south local government, Hon. Farouq Akintunde, the state chairman Abeokuta south local government, the vice chairman, secretary and other leaders of the party.
