Osun Violence: Police Declare Five Suspects Wanted Ahead of Governorship Election
The Osun State Police Command has declared five suspects wanted over their alleged involvement in a series of violent attacks and politically related crimes as security agencies intensify efforts to restore peace ahead of the state’s governorship election.
According to the police, the wanted persons were identified through intelligence-led investigations as key figures allegedly linked to recent incidents of political violence, killings, assaults and acts of thuggery recorded in different parts of the state. The command said the declaration forms part of ongoing operations aimed at preventing further violence and ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
The police appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects, assuring that the identities of informants would be protected. The command also warned individuals or groups against harbouring the suspects, stressing that anyone found aiding criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.
The latest development follows a wave of violent incidents that have heightened political tension across Osun State in recent weeks, resulting in the loss of lives and destruction of property. Security agencies have since stepped up surveillance and intelligence gathering to curb further attacks and maintain law and order before, during and after the governorship poll.
