Alex Otti Orders Immediate Rehabilitation of Ironsi’s Alma Mater in Abia
Abia State Governor Alex Otti has directed the immediate rehabilitation of the alma mater of Nigeria’s first military Head of State, Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to restoring public educational infrastructure across the state.
The governor gave the directive during a visit to the historic school, where he assessed the condition of its facilities and expressed concern over the level of deterioration. He said the rehabilitation project would preserve the institution’s legacy while providing students with a more conducive environment for learning.
Otti noted that schools with significant historical importance deserve adequate attention and investment, stressing that improving educational infrastructure remains a key priority of his administration.
He assured staff, students and alumni that the state government would commence renovation works without delay, adding that the intervention would include the upgrading of critical facilities to meet modern educational standards.
The governor also reiterated his commitment to strengthening the education sector through sustained investments in school infrastructure, teacher welfare and improved learning resources. According to him, providing quality education is essential to the long-term development of Abia State and the nation at large.
