Nigerian Army Graduates 8,000 Soldiers to Boost National Security Operations
The Nigerian Army has strengthened its operational capacity with the graduation of 8,000 newly trained soldiers from the Depot Nigerian Army in Osogbo, Osun State, as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce the fight against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats across the country.
The soldiers passed out during a colourful Passing Out Parade, marking another milestone in the Army’s drive to build a highly professional, combat-ready, and mission-oriented force capable of addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, said the recruitment exercise forms part of the Federal Government’s directive to recruit an additional 28,000 personnel to strengthen the Nigerian Army’s force structure and improve operational effectiveness nationwide.
He explained that the new soldiers underwent rigorous military training focused on physical endurance, tactical competence, leadership development, and combat readiness to prepare them for modern military operations.
Shaibu noted that the recruits are joining the Army at a critical period when troops are actively engaged in various theatres of operation to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty, protect lives and property, and combat criminal elements across the country.
The Army Chief urged the graduating soldiers to uphold discipline, professionalism, courage, loyalty, and selfless service throughout their careers. He also reminded them that substantial national resources had been invested in their recruitment and training, calling on them to justify the confidence reposed in them by serving the nation with integrity and respect for human rights.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, represented by Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, congratulated the new soldiers on the successful completion of their training. He commended their resilience and dedication while reaffirming the state’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces in promoting peace, security, and national development.
The graduation of the 8,000 recruits is expected to significantly boost the Nigerian Army’s manpower and enhance ongoing military operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and improving national security across the country.
