Ekiti Governorship Election: APC, PDP and ADC Intensify Battle for Government House
Political activities have intensified in Ekiti State as the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC) ramp up efforts to secure victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
With campaigns gathering momentum across the state, the major political parties are mobilising supporters, strengthening grassroots structures, and unveiling strategies aimed at winning over voters ahead of the crucial poll.
The ruling APC is seeking to retain control of the state by building on the achievements of the current administration and leveraging its established political network across the 16 local government areas. Party leaders have expressed confidence that their performance in governance and ongoing development projects will translate into electoral success.
On the other hand, the PDP is positioning itself as a strong alternative, promising improved governance, economic growth, and enhanced social welfare programmes. The opposition party believes growing public engagement and renewed political momentum will boost its chances at the ballot box.
The ADC, meanwhile, is also making significant moves to expand its influence and attract voters seeking alternatives to the dominant political parties. The party has intensified consultations with stakeholders and community leaders as it seeks to strengthen its support base across the state.
Political observers note that the election is gradually shaping into a major contest among the three parties, with each camp working aggressively to consolidate support ahead of voting day. Analysts also believe that voter turnout, party unity, campaign effectiveness, and grassroots mobilisation will play decisive roles in determining the eventual winner.
The governorship election is expected to serve as an important political test for the major parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, with national leaders closely monitoring developments in the state.
As the campaign season progresses, candidates are expected to focus on key issues including infrastructure development, job creation, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, security, and economic growth.
Residents and political stakeholders are optimistic that the electoral process will remain peaceful, transparent, and credible, allowing voters to freely choose the candidate they believe can advance the state’s development agenda.
