Obi, Dickson Say NDC Coalition Is Beyond 2027 Election Politics

Obi, Dickson Say NDC Coalition Is Beyond 2027 Election Politics
Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson have defended the newly formed National Democratic Coalition (NDC), insisting that the movement is not a temporary political arrangement created solely for election purposes.
The two political figures stated that the coalition was established to promote national development, democratic values, good governance, and inclusive leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a political engagement, Obi stressed that the coalition should not be viewed as a “special purpose vehicle” designed merely to capture power. According to him, the movement is focused on addressing Nigeria’s economic, security, and governance challenges through collective national responsibility.
Dickson also echoed similar views, describing the coalition as a platform aimed at strengthening democracy and encouraging issue-based politics in the country. He said Nigerians are demanding accountable leadership and credible alternatives capable of restoring public confidence in governance.
The coalition has continued to attract attention within the political space as discussions intensify ahead of the 2027 elections. Political analysts believe the emerging alliance could influence future alignments among opposition parties and major political stakeholders.
Obi reiterated the need for unity among political actors committed to national progress, urging Nigerians to support leaders with integrity, competence, and clear developmental agendas.
Observers say the growing conversations around the coalition reflect increasing political realignments and consultations expected to shape the nation’s political landscape in the coming years
