Troops Thwart Mass Abduction of Travellers in Borno
The attempted attack occurred along a major route in the state, where suspected terrorists had planned to ambush commuters and whisk them away. However, vigilant soldiers intervened promptly, engaging the attackers and disrupting their operation before the abduction could take place.
Military sources indicated that the swift response of the troops forced the insurgents to flee, thereby ensuring the safety of all the travellers targeted in the attack.
The operation forms part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts by the Nigerian Armed Forces, particularly under Operation Hadin Kai, to curb insurgent activities in the North-East.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups and safeguarding lives, noting that continued military offensives have significantly weakened insurgents’ capacity to carry out large-scale attacks.
