The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party will surprise Nigerians in the 2027 general elections. He noted that the party remains resolute and focused despite internal challenges, as it intensifies preparations for its forthcoming national convention
Wike affirmed that the party’s convention will go ahead as planned, stressing that necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a successful outing. He downplayed concerns over legal disputes, describing them as minor issues that would not derail the process or affect the party’s broader objectives.
Speaking after inspecting the convention venue in Abuja, the minister explained that reconciliation efforts within the party would continue beyond the convention. He acknowledged existing grievances among members but emphasised that dialogue and inclusiveness remain essential to strengthening unity.
He further disclosed that zoning arrangements for key party positions have been concluded to promote fairness and balance across regions. According to him, the party is gradually building cohesion and is determined to reposition itself as a formidable force ahead of future political contests.
