Balami Signals Plan to Shift Obi Support Base to APC
Balami made this known while congratulating newly elected party leaders, noting that the APC’s growing influence and internal stability continue to attract new members. He added that consultations and engagements are already in progress to bring members of the Obidient movement into the party’s fold, as part of efforts to strengthen its grassroots presence and broaden its political base nationwide.
He further argued that many members of the Obidient movement share similar aspirations with the APC, particularly in areas of national development, economic growth, and governance reforms. According to him, these shared interests provide a strong foundation for collaboration and eventual integration, as political actors continue to reposition ahead of the next election cycle.
Balami also maintained that the planned move is not about weakening any group, but about building a more inclusive political platform capable of accommodating diverse voices. He stressed that the APC remains open to individuals and groups willing to contribute meaningfully to nation-building, assuring that new entrants would be given the opportunity to participate actively within the party’s structure.
