Slave Trade Remembrance Day : OGHA PDP candidate”O’kenny” advocates for the need to inculcate history on slave trade into the nation’s curriculum

The House of Assembly candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP for Odeda State Constituency in Ogun State, Hon. Odewunmi Kehinde popularly known as O’kenny has advocated for the inclusion of the history of slave trade in Nigerian schools academic curriculum.
Hon. O’kenny who spoke through his social media page to commemorate this year’s slave trade Remembrance day to re-awaken the subconscious of minds of Nigerians to the damage modern slavery techniques has done and continues to do to the corporate existence of the nation.
“I would say this in clear terms, that the best we can do for the memories of those who perished along slavery lines, to this journey to the unknown, I think the most we can do is to constantly remind ourselves, their sacrifices and struggles for freedom and survival”.
“We must teach the history of slavery to our young ones in primary schools and secondary schools. It is distressful and disappointing to see our young people in our schools, in our country, being taught history just the same way the colonial masters wrote it. I believe the best thing we should now emphasized on is to inculcate the lessons and the lectures and experiences of slavery in our curriculum.”he said.
