Over the past five electoral cycles since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, less attention has been paid to who holds political office, particularly the quality of people elected as members of the Local Government Council, State Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate, as well as those elected as Governors and the President.
While good governance depends on building strong institutions that provide the framework for politicians to act in the public’s interest, it also depends on choosing competent and trustworthy politicians who have the strength of character to uphold the values of the institutions in the first place.
“On Good governance” The 2023 All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives aspirant and member representing Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/Odeda Federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Olumide Osoba’s ambition has never derailed from the need to bring development to Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode and Odeda local government areas of Ogun State through effective legislative intervention.
The current chairman, House of Representatives committee On sports plans for the development of his constituency, has always anchored on some cardinal areas of need, Christened “STEP” which centered on School Rehabilitation and Renovation, Transparency in Representation, Employment Drive and Youth Skill Acquisition as well as Power Generation for Rural electrification to increase productivity by artisans through Acquisition and distribution of Transformers, a promise he has kept and willing to do more if given the chance once again come 2023.
Looking at his performance in the current legislative dispensation and time past, one could easily agreed that two not one good turn deserves another in the interest of more growth and development of Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency.
