It was gathered that the students, Adeyemo Precious and Oyefule Abiola who are students in the departments of Forestry and wildlife management and Agricultural economics respectively, were abducted in front of their hostel at Olowu area of Ayetoro in Yewa north local government area of the state.
It would be recalled that Yewa local government in Ogun state has been enmeshed in herders and farmers crisis which has claimed many lives in the last few months.
In a statement by Yewa North Patriotic Forum, the youths group called in the Governor of the state to direct the commissioner of police to relocate to yewa north noting that the Ayetoro area has not been enjoying proper policing.
The statement which was signed by the President of the group, Com. Sanni Omobolaji, reads in part, “ We have not been enjoying good policing in Ayetoro, since the former DPO died few months back and since then another DPO has not been deployed to the area while the DCO who has been acting in the DPO capacity has not been corporative with our people.
“ We however demand an immediate redeployment of the DCO else, we might take that as an act of sabotage by the police. we know the Commissioner of police in Ogun to be an hardworking man but he must quickly pay attention to DCOs like this who are capable of watering down the good works of the police in the state. “
Corroborating the youths, the state Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Com. Adeyemi Samson however begged the Governor Abiodun to sit-up and see things for himself as it affect security of students in Ogun west.
“ Our Governor must be embark on a fact finding mission now, so as to see things for himself because the security situation in Ogun west is now worst than worst.
“ We are begging the commissioner of police to as well move to Ogun west to restore normalcy in the area. If good combing of the area is done the culprits might still be apprehended in no distance time but the most important thing to me as the state chairman of NANS in Ogun state is the safe release of our students.
“ Also the DCO is question, Gabriel Onyenma , should be relocated while a new DPO and DCO should be posted to the Ayetoro police station these are my appeal, to prevent us from moving against the station ”.
