2023 : Hon Lanre Edun changing the narratives of NASS representation in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency

From the elites to the less educated people ,politicians down to technocrats, the major topical issues on everyone lips no doubt is the 2023 general elections since the turn of the year.
Major political actors have started to map strategies to ensure victory at the poll, even though the nation’s electoral umpire, INEC is yet to release the timetable for the elections, hinging it on the passage of the electoral bill into law.
Ogun state is not left out in the scheming process as many aspirants have started showing interest in both the gubernatorial, state House of Assembly and national Assembly seats.
While there are many interested in representing the people of their constituency in the State Assembly come 2023, this report tends to analyze a top National Assembly member, a member representing Abeokuta south federal constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Engr. Lanre Edun known to many as ORE ARA ILU, a testament to how he has positively impact in the lives of the people of his constituency since assumption of office.

A grassroot politician, Hon Lanre Edun leadership as chairman, Abeokuta south local government area was adjudged to have been the best thing ever happened to the local government area as he laid a precedent of good governance and developmental strides while in office.
It’s apparent that times are hard, Nigerian people are struggling greatly to become an asset not only for themselves but the society at large.
To this end Hon. Lanre Edun representation is premised on prioritizing and promoting the interest of the masses. Hence, the need to implant massive economic empowerment.
This informed his decision to empower no fewer than 500 women selected across 15 wards of Abeokuta South local government sometimes last year.
The women were empowered with trading items such as kerosene, bags of charcoal, packs of noodles, packs of drinks depending on what they have requested to boost their trading business. Others were also given cash gift to boost their various businesses.
Hon Lanre Edun, who was represented by Mrs Adebola Sunday expressed her satisfaction over this empowerment saying that the trading items actually met the expectations of the beneficiaries.
According to the man known by many as “ore are ilu” meaning friend of the masses, he has made a substantial provision and strategy on the ground to ensure the opportunities are channeled to the appropriate quarters towards impacting lives and alleviating poverty among the people of Abeokuta south.
The lawmaker said, “We are here for women empowerment, this is not our first empowerment but that of this year is fantastic because it captured many beneficiaries. Those materials were given to the women based on what they are selling, just as they equally demanded.
“We felt that rather than giving them fish, we should support in their determination to fish by themselves, these are part of the reasons why we decided to support them with the items they are already selling.
“They were picked across the 15 wards of Abeokuta South local government and it is our resolve to do more, because making the people comfortable is the whole essence of governance.”
On Education, Hon Edun facilitated educational materials for both staff and students of selected public schools in Abeokuta south federal constituency.
Putting all these in mind as the 2023 general elections draw nearer, it is time again for people of Abeokuta south federal constituency to take a decisive decision on a man that have and continue to serve them so well.
