Wike Says Fubara Corrected Political Mistakes, Welcomes Rivers Reconciliation
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has corrected his political mistakes by reconciling with his political family, describing the development as a positive step toward restoring peace and stability in the state.
Speaking during an interaction with journalists after inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory, Wike dismissed suggestions that Fubara’s return to his political camp amounted to begging for forgiveness. He stressed that politics is about leadership, dialogue and unity, adding that there is nothing wrong with retracing one’s steps after recognizing earlier mistakes.
The former Rivers State governor noted that he had always believed Fubara would eventually return to the political platform that supported his emergence as governor. According to him, the reconciliation reflects political maturity and demonstrates a commitment to prioritising the interests of Rivers State over personal differences.
Wike maintained that the renewed alliance would strengthen political cooperation in Rivers State and create a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections. He expressed confidence that members of the political family would work together to consolidate support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ensure electoral success in the state.
The minister also used the opportunity to assess the progress of major road projects in the FCT, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure that will improve transportation, boost economic activities and enhance the quality of life for residents. He said the Tinubu administration remains focused on completing ongoing projects and ensuring continuity in governance through sustained investment in infrastructure.
Wike further called on political leaders to embrace dialogue, reconciliation and collective responsibility, insisting that unity among stakeholders remains essential for sustainable development and effective governance.
