Wike, Fubara Crisis : Gale of defection hits State executive Council as more commissioners resigns
The end to the political crisis rocking Rivers State seems not in sight yet as four more commissioners have resigned their positions in the state executive council.
They are the Commissioner for Works, Dr George-Kelly Alabo, his counterpart in the Ministry of Social welfare and Rehabilitation, Mrs Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma, and Finance counterpart, Isaac Kamalu.
Also, it was reliably gathered that the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke has also resigned from Fubara’s cabinet.
Their resignations came hours after the state’s Attorney-General (AG) and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Zacchaeus Adangor quit his position.
The five cabinet members who have resigned so far are said to be strong allies of the immediate past Governor of the state and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In the letter dated December 14 and addressed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara through the Secretary to the State Government, Alabo, who served as Wike’s Works Commissioner, said he resigned based on the dictates of his conscience.
In the letter titled, ‘Resignation as Honourable Commissioner For Works, Rivers State, he wrote, “My decision to resign is anchored on my conscience, personal philosophy, and professional ethics. This decision was taken after deep introspection.”
On his part, the Finance Commissioner,. however, did not state why he pulled out of the cabinet.
He said, “I hereby inform you of my immediate resignation as Commissioner of Finance, Rivers State with effect from the date stated above.
“I thank you for the opportunity granted me to serve our dear State under your administration.”
