US Releases Updated List of 124 Nigerians Facing Deportation
The United States government has released an updated list of 124 Nigerians facing deportation as part of its ongoing immigration enforcement efforts targeting foreign nationals convicted of serious criminal offences.
According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the affected Nigerians have been included on what the agency described as its “worst-of-the-worst” criminal register. The department also made public the names and photographs of those listed but did not disclose the specific offences attributed to each individual or indicate when the deportations would take place.
The updated list forms part of the U.S. government’s broader strategy to strengthen immigration enforcement, enhance border security, and remove non-citizens considered to pose public safety or national security risks.
Officials maintained that all deportation proceedings would be carried out in accordance with applicable U.S. immigration laws and due process before the affected individuals are repatriated to Nigeria.
The development comes amid stricter immigration policies and increased enforcement actions by U.S. authorities, who have continued to warn that visa violations, criminal convictions, and breaches of immigration regulations could result in detention, removal proceedings, and future travel restrictions.
The release of the updated list is expected to draw attention from both Nigerian and U.S. authorities as the two countries continue to cooperate on immigration, border management, and consular matters.
