The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, Tuesday sacked Senator Jibrin Isah, the senator representing Kogi East senatorial district in the National Assembly.

The tribunal consequently ordered a rerun in 155 polling units in Kogi East.

The tribunal’s Chairman, K.A. Orjiako, delivered the judgment in response to a petition filed by Victor Adoji, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the February 25 election.

According to the tribunal, the rerun will be contested between Jibrin Isah of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Victor Adoji, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The decision was reached after a thorough examination of the petition presented by the PDP candidate, Adoji, who had raised concerns about irregularities during the initial election.

The rerun election is expected to provide an opportunity for a fair and transparent resolution of the electoral dispute between the two candidates.
