Alaafin : Oba Lamidi Adeyemi was a symbol of Yoruba’s distinctive Unity, will be greatly missed – Rt.Hon. Olumide Osoba


A Member, House of Representatives representing Abeokuta North, Odeda and Obafemi Owode Federal Constituency, and Chairman House Committee on Sports, Rt. Hon. Olumide Osoba have expressed sadness over the demise of the long-reigning Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III
In a Statement released through his Media office, The Federal lawmaker said that the news of the demise of the revered traditional ruler came with a rude shock, even as he joined his ancestors at the ripe age of 83 after serving the Oyo people as well as the Nation for 52 years on the throne of his forebears.

Rt.Hon. Olumide described the late Alaafin has a Man of unquantifiable wisdom whose reign impacted positively on Oyoland and the Nation in many remarkable ways.
“I commiserates with the government and people of Oyo state on the passage to glory of our dear father, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, I join friends and admirers of Oyo kingdom to mourn the transition of Yoruba great heritage, a symbol of Yoruba distinctive unity, Although we are sad that his exit will deny us of his elderly counsels and admonitions, it is remarkable that the late king lived a life of accomplishments as a foremost businessman and a traditional ruler whose reign was remarkably outstanding”.
” I prayed May God Almighty, rest his soul and give us all the fortitude to bear the loss, his reign has not only brought tremendous growth and developments to Oyo kingdom but as well solidifies the status of the Yoruba race as a force to be reckoned with in the scheme of things in Nigeria and Africa as a whole because of the good things he did.” the statement reads.
According to palace officials, the top Yoruba monarch bade the world farewell in the late hours of Friday at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti and had since been committed to mother earth.
Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III ruled for 52 years before his demise, making him the longest-reigning Alaafin.
