Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has officially declared the end of the 12-day conflict with Israel, calling it a victory for the Iranian people’s “heroic resistance.”
In a nationally televised message carried by the official IRNA news agency on Tuesday, Pezeshkian said the war was “imposed” on Iran by Israeli “adventurism and provocation,” but that the resilience of the Iranian people and armed forces had brought it to a close.
“Today, after the heroic resistance of our great nation, whose determination makes history, we are witnessing the establishment of a truce and the ending of this 12-day war imposed by the adventurism and provocation of the Zionist regime,” the president declared.

Background of the Conflict
The war erupted amid mounting regional tensions and intensified after a joint U.S.-Israeli airstrike on Iranian nuclear facilities, to which Iran responded with missile strikes on U.S. bases in Iraq and Qatar.
The fighting saw some of the most direct exchanges between the two longtime adversaries, raising fears of a broader Middle East conflict.
Ceasefire Takes Effect
The truce, reportedly brokered through back-channel diplomacy involving regional powers and international stakeholders, is expected to involve phased de-escalation, with Iran halting operations first and Israel following shortly after.
