Subsidy : Ogun Gov.Dapo Abiodun flags off distribution of Palliatives
Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun has flagged off the distribution of 300,000 10Kg bags of rice as palliative to the vulnerable citizens of the state, to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
The Governor, while flagging-off the items on Friday at Okemosan, Abeokuta, the state capital, said within a week residents of the state will begin to feel the impact of the palliative, stressing that the members of Palliative care distribution Committee were meticulously chosen.
He said, the 29-member committee, headed by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, will supervise the distribution for the purpose of transparency and accountability in the process and to allow the intervention to meet the purpose for which it was meant.
According to the governor “This is a Federal Government initiative under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that is been domesticated welfare in Ogun State”.
“Our desire in the first instance, is to distribute about 300,000 bags of 10Kg of Rice accross our 5, 400 polling units. We have decided to use polling units as a reference of distribution”.
“Let me thank Mr. President for this initiative. Let me thank all of us particularly members of our unions who are so part of this Committee. I want to thank all of us for been patient with government. We know that it has not be easy, but you Know it is not easy to implement a policy like this; it certainly will come with some pain but will definitely can see the light at the end of the tunnel”.
