South-West Fulani Chiefs Commend Tinubu, Makinde, Security Agencies Over Oyo Schoolchildren Rescue
The Council of Fulani Chiefs in South-West Nigeria has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and security agencies for the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement issued following the victims’ release, the council described the rescue operation as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and insecurity. It commended the coordinated efforts of the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, and security agencies for ensuring the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers.
The Fulani chiefs said the successful operation has renewed public confidence in the nation’s security architecture and demonstrated the importance of collaboration among intelligence and law enforcement agencies in tackling criminal activities. They urged security authorities to sustain the momentum by intensifying intelligence gathering and proactive operations to prevent future attacks.
The council also appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information that could assist efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes. According to the group, stronger cooperation between citizens and security agencies is vital to achieving lasting peace and stability across the country.
Congratulating the rescued schoolchildren, teachers and their families, the Fulani leaders called for greater unity among communities, traditional institutions and governments at all levels to strengthen the protection of schools and vulnerable communities. They stressed that collective action remains essential to safeguarding lives and property.
