Rev. Funke Adejumo Advises Married Men: ‘Do Your Best, But Don’t Lose Yourself Trying to Please Your Wife’
Popular marriage counsellor and cleric, Rev. Funke Felix-Adejumo, has advised married men against placing excessive pressure on themselves in an attempt to meet every expectation of their wives.
Speaking during a sermon that has gained widespread attention online, the preacher said husbands should remain committed to their responsibilities but should never endanger their health or lives trying to achieve what she described as an impossible goal of completely satisfying a woman.
According to her, women naturally desire improvement and change, making it unrealistic for any man to believe he can fulfil every expectation.
Using beauty and fashion as illustrations, she noted that many women enhance their appearance with wigs, artificial nails, and other accessories despite appreciating their natural features. She argued that this reflects an ongoing desire for improvement rather than dissatisfaction alone.
Rev. Adejumo encouraged husbands to give their best in marriage without allowing the pressure to affect their physical or emotional well-being.
She also addressed women, urging them to build their own financial capacity instead of relying entirely on their husbands for support. According to her, personal financial independence strengthens families and enables wives to contribute meaningfully to their homes.
The cleric concluded by encouraging couples to pursue balance, mutual understanding, and shared responsibility, stressing that healthy marriages thrive when both partners contribute to the relationship rather than placing unrealistic expectations on one another.
