2023 : Amaechi visit Alake, point to his experience as marketable strategy to further the growth of the Nation

Transportation Minister and 2023 APC Presidential Aspirant, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as part of his ongoing nationwide consultations to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari met the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Ogun state, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, and Egba chiefs in Ake palace, soliciting their support and blessings for his 2023 presidential ambition.
He said he was not unmindful of the fact that another aspirant, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) hailed from Ogun State, but urged the monarch and his subjects to consider the experience he (Amaechi) was bringing to the table and support his aspiration.
The minister, accompanied to the palace by Governor Dapo Abiodun – represented by his Chief of Staff, Shuaib Salisu, and other dignitaries, apologised for keeping the paramount ruler and his people waiting for hours till he showed up after 9pm.
Describing himself as a humble and detribalised Nigerian, he identified the elite as the problem of Nigeria, saying they (elites) were in the habit of turning Nigerians against one another by stoking tribal, ethnic, religious and sectional sentiments for cheap political gains.
