Osun APC, Governor Adeleke Trade Accusations Over Alleged Protection of Notorious Criminals
The political rivalry between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Osun State Government has escalated, with both sides exchanging accusations over the alleged protection of notorious criminals as political activities intensify ahead of the state’s governorship election.
The Osun APC accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of shielding individuals allegedly linked to criminal activities and political violence, claiming the government has failed to take decisive action against those responsible for threatening public peace. The opposition party called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the allegations and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Responding, the Adeleke administration dismissed the allegations as false, baseless and politically motivated. The government insisted that Governor Adeleke remains committed to upholding law and order across Osun State and accused the APC of attempting to divert public attention from critical governance and campaign issues through unfounded claims.
The state government further maintained that security agencies have continued to operate independently in combating crime and safeguarding lives and property, urging all political parties and their supporters to avoid actions or statements capable of escalating political tension ahead of the election.
As preparations for the governorship poll gather momentum, political observers have called on all stakeholders to embrace issue-based campaigns, respect the rule of law and allow security agencies to discharge their constitutional responsibilities without interference.
