Oriire Kidnapping: Wives of Suspected Abductors to Be Arraigned
The wives of some of the suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State are expected to be arraigned in court over their alleged involvement in the criminal operation.
Security authorities said investigations uncovered evidence suggesting that the women allegedly played various roles in supporting the activities of the kidnapping syndicate during the period the victims were held in captivity.
According to investigators, the suspects are expected to face charges related to aiding and abetting kidnapping, conspiracy and other offences under Nigeria’s criminal laws. The arraignment forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to dismantle the network behind the high-profile abduction.
The kidnapping, which attracted nationwide attention, ended after a coordinated security operation led to the rescue of the victims. Authorities have since intensified investigations to identify and prosecute everyone connected to the crime.
Security agencies reiterated their commitment to ensuring that all individuals found culpable, regardless of their relationship with the principal suspects, are brought before the courts to face justice.
The planned prosecution underscores the determination of law enforcement authorities to strengthen accountability in kidnapping cases and discourage individuals from providing logistical or material support to criminal groups operating across the country.
