Nollywood: Some Actress Open Up To Me That They Only Came To Have S€X With Male Actors – Yetunde Adeyemi
Yoruba Nollywood actress and producer Yetunde Adeyemi has opened up in a candid reflection about her early experiences in the film industry, shedding light on the challenges and decisions made by some aspiring actresses. During a revealing interview on Kunle Afod’s official YouTube channel, Yetunde recounted a particular encounter on a movie set that highlighted a common yet troubling attitude among some newcomers.
In her formative years as a student honing her acting skills, she encountered numerous young women whose intentions were far removed from pursuing a serious career in Nollywood. These women unabashedly confessed that their primary objective wasn’t to advance their acting career but rather to engage in romantic liaisons with established male actors and flirt with influential figures within the industry.
Yetunde firmly stated her commitment to carving out a career in Nollywood based squarely on her talent and perseverance, eschewing any notion of leveraging intimate relationships as a shortcut to fame or success. She unequivocally expressed her disdain for the idea of using personal favors as a transactional tool in the industry.
In her own powerful words, she recounted, “When I started my acting career, I came across several ladies on movie sets who weren’t there for the purpose of acting. Instead, they said they only came to have sex with Nollywood stars and flirt. But that’s not my kind of thing. I’m the type of lady who works hard for what she wants. If you offer me sex in exchange for something, it will only make me feel like you’re taking advantage of me.”
Yetunde further shared a poignant personal anecdote that underscored her resolve to enter the industry on her own terms. She recalled a trying instance where, after traveling extensively from Abuja to Abeokuta in hopes of participating in a film shoot, she found herself sidelined, waiting an entire day without being cast before deciding to leave on the second day. This experience only fueled her determination and solidified her ambition to succeed without compromising her principles.
