Leadership Crisis rocks Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services as Former CG refuses to hand over
Some concerned personnel of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services, NAQS has sent an appeal to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the leadership crisis rocking the Agency
Investigation reveals that former Comptroller General of Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) on expiration of his tenure on 13th December refused to hand-over after spending 9years as the erstwhile Head of the agency to the most senior officer in violation of Agency establishment Act.
This development has led to confusion and uncertainty among the staff, while the supervisory Minister of Agriculture is yet to make a formal statement on the aberration being perpetrated by former CG. It was observed that the past CG is still running the office remotely including granting of financial approval through his Aides in the absence of clear leadership in the agency.
Further inquiries revealed the CG is yet to return fleets of Agency official vehicles attached to his office which includes Lexus 570, Toyota Land Cruiser, Hilux vehicles.
Some of his infractions include deliberate flouting of Civil Service regulations in promotion and employment of staff, abuse of office for personal gain, non-oversight of agency finances due to lack of statutory board.
