Late Alaafin was a Bridge builder, Development facilitator – Rt. Hon Tola Banjo


A Former Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly and House of Representatives aspirant, Rt Hon. Tola Banjo described the death of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Atanda Lamidi Adeyemi III as a great loss not only to Oyo State but the entire country.
While Commiserating with the government and people of Oyo State, the Ex – Lawmaker noted that the vacuum created by the exit of the traditional ruler will be too difficult to fill considering his outstanding contributions to the development of what is today, modern Oyo empire.

He added that Oyoland and indeed the entire Yoruba race will not forget in a hurry the various developments that occured during the reign of late Alaafin, Oba Adeyemi III which according to him placed the Yoruba’s to be a force to be reckoned with across Nigeria as well as the entire African continent because of the good things he did.”
“Kabiyesi was instrumental to the peace we are enjoying in Yorubaland today, he was a bridge builder among various groups and was growth and development facilitator, a custodian of history and cultural heritage, his wise counsels will d be greatly missed by government at all tiers” he said
The House of Representatives aspirant then commiserated with the immediate family, the government and good people of Oyo State urging them to take it as an act of God, praying that God will grant his soul eternal rest.
The monarch, who joined his ancestors on Friday at the Afe Babalola Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State, at the age of 83 years ruled for 52 years, was buried in Oyo town according to Islamic rites on Saturday.
