Kano Govt Reinstates dethroned Emir, Sanusi II, Gives Dethroned Emirs 48hrs To Vacate Palaces

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Thursday evening signed the Emirate Repeal Law 2024 dissolving the five Emirate Councils in the State.

The Emirates was created by the immediate-past Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2019.

The govenor also officially reinstated the deposed 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II back to the Kano throne, barely four years after he was deposed.

The Roving Pen reports that Sanusi who was in Port – Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, was said to have abruptly left the Garden City where he was being received by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, for Kano when the news broke that the State Assembly lawmakers had perfected the law providing for the dissolution of the five Emirates.

 

Addressing the newsmen shortly after assenting the new law, governor Yusuf revealed that the five dethroned Emirs have 48 hours within which to leave the palaces and submit all official items in their possession to the office of the deputy governor of the state, who doubles as the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Governor Yusuf also called for peace, calm and harmony in the state during the transition period.
