Intl. Day: Ogun First Lady Reaches Out To 100 Widows In Ogun

The wife of Ogun State governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun on Wednesday supported hundred widows with cash and food items in Ogun State to commemorate this year international widows’ day.
The beneficiaries were selected from 15 wards in Abeokuta South.

Mrs Abiodun who was ably represented by the former speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Titi Oseni gave out the packages to the beneficiaries on behalf of the governor’s wife at Abeokuta South Local Government Secretariat, Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Mrs Abiodun described widows as unique and volatile, saying that they must be encouraged and motivated in all ramifications.

She therefore called on every stakeholder, particularly women, advocate groups to support and defend widows and their dependents in their domains.
Mrs Abiodun added that widows remain paramount to her and the state government, saying that the administration of Dapo Abiodun will continue to recognise widows in the state.
She assured widows in the State of the present administration’s commitment to giving them a better livelihood and ensuring they benefit from other dividends of democracy, as she joined the rest of the world to celebrate International Widows’ Day.
Meanwhile, the transition committee chairman, Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon Ayodeji Shomide appreciated the wife of the governor for her kind gesture,
She also described her as a woman of good virtue.
He said, ” I want to thank the wife of the governor for remembering the widows because this is a good one. I prayed may God continue to bless her. Today she extended hand of fellowship and love to the widows.
