Bala Mohammed Vows to Resist Election Manipulation Ahead of 2027 Polls
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has declared that his political movement and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) will resist any attempt to manipulate or rig the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the declaration during a political gathering held at the Government House in Bauchi, where he formally accepted his nomination as the APM candidate for the Bauchi South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking to supporters and party stakeholders, Mohammed stressed that his political camp would neither engage in electoral malpractice nor allow any group or institution to undermine the democratic process.
According to him, the APM intends to campaign based on its achievements, governance record, and development agenda rather than relying on political intimidation or election fraud.
“We will not encourage anybody to rig elections for us, but we will also not allow anyone to rig us out. Our focus is on transparency, fairness, and the will of the people,” he said.
The governor noted that his movement remains committed to democratic values and issue-based politics, adding that the future of Bauchi State must be determined through credible and transparent elections.
Mohammed also explained that his decision to align with the APM followed unresolved internal challenges within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he said affected political stability within the party.
He described the APM as a people-focused platform committed to promoting development, economic growth, and improved living conditions for residents of Bauchi State.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements, the governor pointed to ongoing efforts in infrastructure development, economic reforms, education, healthcare, and rural development. He maintained that his government has laid a solid foundation for future growth despite challenges such as population growth, climate-related concerns, and infrastructure demands.
As part of preparations for the 2027 elections, Mohammed unveiled Dr. Yakubu Adamu as the party’s governorship candidate, expressing confidence in his ability to sustain ongoing development initiatives across the state.
He also called on voters to elect competent representatives into the National Assembly and the State House of Assembly, emphasizing the importance of effective legislative representation in attracting federal opportunities and advancing Bauchi State’s interests.
The governor further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and other relevant institutions to remain neutral and uphold democratic principles throughout the election period.
Mohammed assured supporters that the APM would continue to engage voters directly and present practical solutions to the challenges facing the state as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum.
