Army Chief Orders Rapid Deployment of Special Forces to Curb Insecurity in Plateau

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the immediate deployment of a special intervention battalion to Plateau State to tackle the renewed wave of banditry and security threats in the area.
The elite troops, drawn from the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion, have already arrived in the state and are expected to play a decisive role in restoring peace through aggressive and targeted operations against criminal elements.
The troops were received at the Headquarters of the 3 Division by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division, and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Folusho Oyinlola. He was represented at the reception by the Chief of Staff of the operation, Brigadier General Senlong Sule.
While welcoming the soldiers, the command urged them to remain resolute, decisive, and firm in the execution of offensive operations aimed at dismantling bandit networks. The leadership of the Nigerian Army was also commended for its proactive approach in providing essential combat enablers and logistical support to ensure the success of the mission.
Major General Oyinlola further appealed to residents of Plateau State to remain calm and not be alarmed by the increased movement of troops and deployment of heavy military equipment. He thanked the public for their continued cooperation and emphasized the importance of timely and credible intelligence from citizens to support ongoing military operations and accelerate the return of lasting peace to the state.
