Professional golfers will today tee-off the Alake Annual Golf Tournament at the Abeokuta Golf Club (AGC), Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The tournament sponsored by Oando Plc, a leading indigenous energy solutions provider teed-off on Thursday with the caddies and staff games and it will end on Saturday.
The invited professional golfers across various golf clubs in the South West Zone and beyond arrived the Rock City yesterday ahead of today’s competition.
Also holding today is the arrival of amateur golfers across Nigeria, while the event will be rounded up with a cocktail party tomorrow.
However, Oba Gbadebo who will be joined by other dignitaries will perform the official ceremonial tee-off while amateur golfers take the centre stage for the game on Saturday just as the presentation ceremony will hold later in the day.
Meanwhile, Oando Plc sponsorship of the annual golf event since 2018 is in honour of His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR, Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, and to demonstrate the company’s consistent commitment to giving back to the community and promoting healthy lifestyle.
The tournament which began in 2015 has been a prestigious event for the past nine years, and it will also serve as a platform to honour Oba Gbadebo enduring legacy and contributions to Egbaland.
